Best retro gaming news of 2011

What was the best retro gaming news item of the past year? "Best" can either mean your favorite story or the one you thought was most important.

Here are some headlines I'd like to nominate - some of these aren't exactly "good" news but were important stories nonetheless:

-Site offering old Sierra games reaches agreement with Activision to legally distribute games
-New York's famous Chinatown Fair arcade closes
-Wikileaks Docs Reveal Al Qaeda Sega Cartridge Plot
-Game Center CX airs online
-Fan remake of Duke Nukem 3D is OK'd by Gearbox
-Nintendo launches Zelda 25th Anniversary site
-Overclocked Remix releases albums for Mega Man 9 and Zelda
-SupaBoy released
-First issue of NES-Bit magazine published
-Atari goes after fan sites

You are not limited to these picks - any story we talked about from Episode 64 to now is eligible.

Nintendo Ambassador program for early 3DS adopters. A nice way of saying "sorry for scamming you out of an extra 60+ bucks."

Re: Best retro gaming news of 2011

I was sad to see Chinatown Fair arcade close! It was super famous for fighting games.

2011 Biggest event was the lame 3ds launch, followed by a price drop, and followed by an add-on analog stick. The add on analog stick reminded me of something sega would pull in 1993.

I'll vote Sierra, it's a cool story.

I'll vote Zelda 25th if it would come down to a tie. I like that they are acknowledging the series, even if it is secretly (or maybe not so secretly) mostly a plan to sell the entire series again through the Virtual Console :)
