2012 Gaming Resolutions

It might be a little early for the topic but the new year is right around the corner.

I've got about a hundred unfinished games in my collection with many I've never even touched. Heck, there's a few even still in shrink-wrap. I seem to pick up two to three games per month only finding time to play one of them.

With that said, my gaming resolution for 2012 is to not buy ANY new games for the year. It'll be tough, but hopefully I can catch up on my backlog while saving some money in the process.

Do you guys have any gaming resolutions for next year planned?

Re: 2012 Gaming Resolutions

good question!

get some PS1, SNES, and NES games on my wishlist and to play them
sell my entire sega collection if i haven't done so by then
try indy pc games more often
perhaps sell all or part of gameboy collection
listen to the retro league more often
perhaps get an arcade joystick
finish top gear 3000, burnout 3
beat some of my arcade high scores, specifically galaga
play pinball more often
not to be tempted to buy games i don't need off ebay because they are rare

Re: 2012 Gaming Resolutions

Pretty much just play games. I am drastically thinning out my collection to just games and systems that I actually like and will play. I turned into a collector rather than a gamer somewhere along the line. There's no point in having all of this stuff if it's just sitting there. I will never sell my 2600 stuff though, that's why I got into this hobby in the first place. :)

Since I'm not sure what I'll still finish in 2011 I'll just make one resolution for now... get the podcast to at least episode 150!

Buy more Dreamcast games. Use Goozex to get stuff cheap.

Track down a Sega CD-X and maybe pick up a snes/sega clone system.

Re: 2012 Gaming Resolutions

Right now, I'd say to spend less money on gaming in 2012. Plenty of 3DS games coming out and the Vita looks cool, but not feeling Sony's new proprietary memory cards (mandatory at that!). Probably wait for them to release game/memory bundles with the Vita....which may be late 2012, so who knows. May spend more than 2011. Wii U is no where near my radar, but if K-Mart has a killer deal, maybe. Better be something really special, like $100 gift card or something.

1920 x 1080p! ;-D

But seriously: 1) to get a new Game Cube w/ GBP, (mine was lent out, but never returned, same with my N64, but one of those is on the way from ebay as we speak), 2) to get new selector boxes that are fully functional, and better surge protectors that are more accommodating to AC adaptors so that I can literally hook all my systems up at once, 3) to get current on the call of duty series on 360, 4) to replace my gen 2 SNES/NES with working gen 1 units, 5) to beef up on my controller stock for systems where I don't have enough, 6) to catalogue my collection, 7) to be a better time manager when it comes to gaming. I probably spend more time than I should with the general franchise of all things gaming related, yet, don't spend as much of that time as I probably could actually gaming itself.

One that would've been a resolution but was just accomplished last week was to get a working model 1 Genesis that is -not- VA7. I can't believe how much better everything sounds on this VA6, and I'm going to have to go back now and replay all my Genesis/32X games just to hear how the music sounds on the VA6!

Re: 2012 Gaming Resolutions

I guess my resolution would be to Beat and Win more games. I'm always starting games and playing halfway, get bored and switch to a new game. Like i beat really good games. but a lot of the time i just drop a game to play another. I need to actually play a game and beat it to move on to the next.
Currently Playing: Pokemon Black, and i wont be playing anything else for a long time.
Recently Beat: Conduit

Oh man, no new games? I probably should do that and save some money and play some of my older stuff, but not buying games for a year would be really challenging for me.

If you can pull it off you'll have my admiration.
